Castell Conwy: Trip to BeWILDerwood

We had a fantastic day at BeWILDerwood! The children were an absolute credit to our school, showing excellent behaviour, kindness and enthusiasm throughout the day.

We certainly climbed our hearts out, explored, laughed and challenged ourselves on all the amazing play structures. It was a day full of adventure, teamwork and lots of happy memories.

Well done, everyone – we are so proud of you!

Castell Conwy: making a storm

Today we have been making a storm! We have been making a storm in a jar, and the children learnt how rain formed. They have been making a lighthouse to withstand a storm. They have been making wind and experimenting with different materials to see which travels the furthest.

Dosbarth Criccieth: Float or sink?

Today we went into Forest School to help the Chief Water Engineer. He had a problem with different boats sinking, so we investigated which items sank and which floated. We also had a try at making something that would float using a sheet of tin foil. We made predictions, tested the materials and then discussed our findings. We look forward to finding out some more.

Dosbarth Criccieth: Water Engineers

This week we started our new topic: Salish, Splash, Splosh! The Great Aqueduct Challenge!

Children walked into class where they found a number of items and a letter asking them to train as Water Engineers. We looked through the items and discussed what we could be learning about. We read the letter and accepted out engineer badges. This week we have then looked at the aqueduct and how it works as well as Thomas Telford, the engineer who designed it.

Dosbarth Criccieth: Planet Protectors

This week we brought our Planet Protectors topic to a close. Throughout the project, the children have taken part in mini missions both at home and at school, recording their efforts in their Planet Protector passports.

We were very proud to see that every child took part, with each completing at least three missions—and one even managed all twelve! The children were delighted to receive their certificates to celebrate their efforts.

We hope they will continue to build on these habits and keep looking after our planet.

Castell Conwy: counting coins

We have been learning to recognise coins and counting different amounts. We have been singing five currant buns and the children have coloured currant buns for their bakery.

Dosbarth Criccieth: National Numeracy Day

Today is National Numeracy Day. To celebrate, children in Dosbarth Criccieth took part in an Escape Room. They worked in teams to see if they could solve the missions, which gave them a code. This code could then open a padlock that was holding the numeracy trophy! they had 45 minutes to try and complete the challenge, one team worked so well, they completed it with 16 minutes to spare! All children completed the challenges with 2 groups opening the padlock just after the set time.

They worked so well and loved the excitement! Well done to all the children!
