Spring Term 2022
Blwyddyn Newydd Dda pawb!
Our Topic will be “Life in Cold Places”
In this topic we will be reading the story ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers. We will sequencing the events in the story and create our own Stopmotion animation.
We will be researching famous explorers, such as Ernest Shackleton and go on an adventure to the South Pole and meet some penguins of our own!
Autumn Term
Welcome back everyone!! It is very exciting to have you join us for a full day in Reception. We have lots of exciting things that we will be learning and exploring!
Our Topic will be “Colours of the Rainbow”
In this topic we will be learning to name colours and how to mix them to create new colours.
We will be exploring a range of different stories including A rainbow of my own, Brown bear, brown bear, Elmer, Rainbow Fish. We will be encouraging the children to recall and retell the stories and to talk confidently about the different characters and settings.
In our Physical Development we are focusing on developing fine motor skills by using tweezers and threading as well as giving the children lots of opportunities to make marks using an effective tripod pencil grip.
Please see below for an overview of what we will be exploring in more detail:
Here is some information that will help with the routine:
*We will be spending lots of time outside and so children will need to have a warm coat with them EVERY DAY.
*Please ensure ALL items are clearly labelled-from water bottles to footwear!
*P.E. will be taught on Friday afternoons by Miss Blackwell and will start from Friday 10th September. Children should come into school wearing their sports kit on this day. This should include a royal blue/white T-shirt, black/blue shorts/joggers and a long sleeved sports top and trainers for outdoor PE.

School Dinner and Snack
School dinners will still need to be paid for and ordered in advance using the parentpay app. If you need any support logging in to parentpay, please contact the school office.
Snack is available at a cost of £7 for the first half term. If children are bringing snack from home, please be mindful that we are a healthy school and permit only fruit or vegetables to be brought in for snack. Thank you for your continued support with this. They will also receive milk, which is free, during snacktime.
Water Bottles
Children will need to bring a water bottle into school to stay hydrated in class. Children are now able to refill water bottles as restrictions have eased, but will still need to bring their bottles home regularly to be washed. A friendly reminder that it is just water permitted in class, while juice can be brought in for break and lunch time.
Homework
Children will not be having any homework sent home this term, but they will be given a storybook to read, along with their reading record for you to write in when they read at home. The books will be changed weekly so please remember to bring them in their book bags daily.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about anything school related. I am contactable on dojo and via email at JacksonB39@hwbcymru.net
