Welcome back! I hope you have all had a super summer break and are ready to start a new exciting adventure in Dosbarth Harlech. I am very lucky this year to have the privilege of continuing to teach lots of children I already know very well in a mixed Year 1 and 2 Class. In Class, there is myself Miss Griffiths (Class Teacher) and Miss Champion -Teaching Assistant (a really appropriate name!)
The children have all made an excellent start to the year and we thank you for your support so far in helping them to settle so well. During their time in school we want school to be a pleasurable, exciting, fun experience, a place that your child enjoys coming, a place where he/she can relax and be him/herself. Your child’s happiness and well-being is paramount to us. New routines in school will, of course, take some time to get used to and are subject to change and subject to change in line with Government recommendations.
Here is a little extra information related to the day-to-day life in Dosbarth Harlech:
We will be spending lots of time outside and so children will need to have a warm coat with them EVERY DAY.
Please ensure ALL items are clearly labelled-from water bottles to footwear!
P.E: will take place on Tuesday this year and will be taught by Miss Thomas. Children are asked to come into school wearing their PE kits the first term. This should be a kit suitable for outdoor PE, as we hope to be outside as often as possible. I suggest a plain navy blue or black tracksuit with a hoodie or sweater, and a t shirt underneath, comfortable sports shoes/trainers.
Importance of regular reading -we are pleased to share that children will be allowed to bring reading books home and are encouraged to read at home as often as possible. Each child will be given a reading record, please ensure this is signed. They will also have spellings and keywords. Book bags should come into school everyday.
We have lots of exciting things planned this Autumn term, initially our first topic is based about ‘ME and my feelings’ which we will explore whilst carrying out all our initial assessments. Together we will be reading the amusing, yet very sensitive book written by the new exciting author Anna Llenas.
Later in the term our topic will be titled ‘Who lives in a house like this?’ Any ideas what this might be?
If parents/carers have any worries or concerns, please feel free to catch me at the end of the school day. I am contactable via Class Dojo.
*Remember to sign up to Class Dojo to see all of the exciting things your children are getting up to each day. The children also get to see the comments you write back which makes them feel very happy and proud.
I look forward to getting to know you and your children even more this term and wish you all a very happy, healthy, safe Autumn term with us.
