Originally from Northern Ireland, I moved to Chester when I was 18 to study PE and Sports Science at university, and never moved back ‘home’.
After graduating from university, I worked mainly at MBNA bank, interrupted only by a few spells in the USA coaching football for Challenger Sports. While working at MBNA I also worked part-time for Chester City FC’s Centre of Excellence, coaching some of their youth teams.
It was while coaching that I realised that real job satisfaction for me was not from working in a bank or office, but rather from coaching and working with children. At the age of 28 then, I went back to university to complete a teaching degree, and I have been working in education since.
Outside of work, I am mostly a taxi. I clock up the miles taking my son to basketball, cricket and football and my daughter to brownies and taekwondo. When not being a taxi, I can often be found in a field throwing things for our overly energetic dog to chase.
