This week we have been working hard on mastering addition and subtraction using the column method. There have been some amazing Eureka moments, and we have some little teachers in our midst!
We have had such a busy time, this week, designing and creating Viking longboats out of recycled materials. We also tested them to see whether our goals of being water-resistant, able to keep afloat as well as keeping Viking treasure safe, were successful! Our reflection time was fantastic!
In Dosbarth Penrhyn, we have been working on story writing! We created our own front covers and illustrated them with pictures we generated using AI.
Each Friday, we set aside time to get cosy with a blanket and teddy and settle down to read. This gives us time to enjoy our books and chat about them with our friends.
We are learning to use the past tense in our Welsh lessons. We have been playing games to help us learn new vocabulary. Rhian Steele Year 4/5 Class Teacher Ysgol Maes Y Llan, Ruabon
Every day we have a go at Wordle. We have started to use dictionaries to help us find words. This 5-minute activity is helping our spelling, vocabulary and reasoning skills.
We have been working on our self portraits today! We have made a good start on sketching the outline and plan to paint them throughout the week. Watch this space for the final products!
Over the last few weeks we have been learning to add using the column addition method. Our class puppet ‘Milady’ decided to have a go too, so we marked her additions and explained her mistakes so she knows how to improve next time! We even got to use green teacher pens – how exciting!
We have loved our pumpkin themed day in Dosbarth Penrhyn! We have carved pumpkins, created still-life drawings of pumpkins and painted 3D pumpkin decorations.
