Little Dragons Den

Dosbarth Criccieth – Year 2 & 3

Welcome Back
Welcome back! I hope you have all enjoyed your summer holidays and are excited for a new school year. This year we have lots of exciting topics I cannot wait to share with you. Our topic for Autumn Term 1 – Cynefin and Me will be It’s Always Sunny In Wrexham. Our Topic for Autumn Term 2 will be Sparkle & Shine – What’s that up in Space?

PE Days & Kit
Our PE day is a Tuesday. Please send your child into school on this day wearing their PE kit. Our school PE kit consists of a blue or white plain T-shirt, or the school logo T-shirt. Navy or black shorts/joggers and a navy or black jumper/hoodie. Trainers should also be worn on this day. If the weather is appropriate, we may do PE outside so please ensure your child is wearing something warm enough.

Outdoor Learning
Our outdoor learning sessions will be a Friday Morning. Your child is expected to come into school on this day wearing weather appropriate clothing. These sessions will include exploring the locality and accessing the forest school. Children can get muddy during these days so please ensure your child is wearing old clothes/overalls and wellies/old trainers. We will be going out whatever the weather!

Reading
Reading books need to come into school on a daily basis to allow staff to read with the children. We are using reading logs to track reading both in school and at home. We encourage as much reading as possible at home just 3-4 pages a day is plenty. I encourage the children to read for pleasure so this may be reading material aside from their school book. Please ensure every home read is written down in their reading log. We aim to read with your child as often as possible in class as well.

Snack
Snack is available to children in Year 2/3 but must be paid for in advance using the ParentPay App! Can I politely remind you that as part of our healthy school’s policy, snack should be a piece of fruit or vegetables – not cereal bars/crisps/chocolates etc. If you wish for your child to have a school dinner, please pay via ParentPay and make the choices online beforehand. Please ask at the School Office if you need any support with ParentPay!

Drinks

As part of the healthy schools policy may we politely remind you that children will only have access to WATER during lesson times. This does not include squash, fruit juice, flavoured or sparking water. This is part of a County wide Healthy Schools Policy. Children are welcome to bring a different drink for lunch time.

Stationery
As the children will be in the junior side of the school, a book bag is no longer necessary. Children are welcome to bring a backpack to school for all of their belongings. If the children wish to do so, they are welcome to bring in their own pencil cases with their own stationery to use within the classroom. This is however with the understanding that items can get lost or broken. No other items from home are necessary.
