Pupil Development Grant (PDG) 2025 to 2026

Ysgol Maes y Llan receives a Pupil Development Grant aimed to improve the educational attainment of pupils from low income families who are entitled to free school meals (eFSM). School are expected to maximise the use of this funding by introducing sustainable strategies which will lead to improved outcomes for these pupils.

We are required to publish online information about how we intend to use the Pupil Development Grant, however it is not appropriate for us to provide a detailed account as it may identify individual pupils.

Our objectives when planning expenditure are based on:

  • ensuring learner wellbeing, as the foundation for learning, is the primary focus for these learners.
  • supporting all eFSM learners via effective early identification and tracking. This includes the more able learners.
  • developing early literacy and numeracy approaches.
  • supporting pupils social and emotional learning.
  • encouraging pupils to become independent and resilient learners.

Ysgol Maes y Llan has produced a plan to promote attainment and progress, and to remove barriers to learning for pupils entitled to this funding.

Strategies funded by this grant are:

  • to support the cost of employing Teaching Assistants to deliver additional learning support for target groups of pupils.
  • to continue to develop provision to support improved learning opportunities in line with Curriculum for Wales.
  • to develop play opportunities and social skills for pupils.
  • to provide wellbeing support through ELSA.

  • continued support for literacy and numeracy intervention groups for pupils.
