Learning in Dosbarth Chirk
Children learn best when they are having fun. That’s why our classroom and outdoor spaces are set up with exciting areas of learning to explore. Through play, group activities and hands-on experiences, we encourage every child to become an enthusiastic and independent learner.
We also make the most of our outdoor environment. From Forest School to outdoor learning days, your child will have plenty of opportunities to discover, explore and enjoy nature – rain or shine!

This Term’s Topics
Our learning this term will be centred around:
Autumn 1 – Traditional Tales – exploring favourite stories, characters and settings through play, role play, and creative activities.
Autumn 2 – Let’s Celebrate – learning about different festivals and special events, and how people celebrate around the world.
These topics give children the chance to be curious, creative, and imaginative while developing key skills across all areas of learning.
Supporting at Home
You play a huge part in your child’s school journey. Reading together, encouraging independence with things like coats and shoes, and enjoying outdoor play all make a real difference.
Once children are settled, they will also bring home reading books to share with you. Please ensure they bring their book bag to school every day and read as often as you can at home.
Reading with your child is one of the most valuable things you can do to support their learning. Snuggling up with a story, talking about the pictures, predicting what might happen next, and chatting about characters all help to build language, imagination, and a love of books. The more often you share books together, the more confident and enthusiastic your child will become as a reader.
Working Together
We know starting school is a big step for both children and parents, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Please get in touch if you ever have any questions or concerns – we’re always happy to help. You can see us on the door, message on dojo or you can email us on
